The Howrah junction was established in 1852 but the first locomotive that ran was on June 18, 1853. The first public departure was on August 15, 1854 and it believed that a large number of people came to celebrate the grand opening. However, the current frontal end of the building was established on December 1, 1905, with 15 active platforms. It was from that moment itself, the station saw an increased demand for transportation.

Overall a decent Waiting Hall. It's completely Air Conditioned and the entry fee is just Rs. 10 per hour, which is mind-blowingly cheap. You also get free Rail Wifi and a canteen for all your food needs.

Best place to keep your ears on rest.
This place is very nice and well maintained.
There are two waiting halls one for ladies and one is general.
Charges are 10 rupees per hour.
You can easily get some snacks inside the hall.
And the washrooms are neat and clean.
There are charges for using the washroom.
That's all.
