The ghat is a beautiful place to visit while in Varanasi. A lot of improvements are taking place. Cleanliness still has a lot of scope. Boat ride is a must do activity to enjoy the beauty of ghats also it is much clearer on the other side if you wish to take a bath.

The most well maintained and cleanest ghat amongst all ghats in Varanasi. This is the most prominent ghat and a tourist planning to visit Varanasi must consider Dasaswamedh ghat as the first preference for stay. Although the roads and lanes are too narrow for a vehicle to enter for dropping or picking up. But the main road is at a walkable distance only and can be managed by one and all provided there isn’t any health issues or physical disabilities. All pick up and drop facilities are available from the main road only.

The ghats are a great and fascinating riverside walk, and for the western traveller let you experience absolute classic the sights, sounds and yes - the smells of India in a couple of miles with no real hassle or pestering. But if you only have time or money for one thing whilst you are there make sure it is the aarti ceremony at sunset.

If you are not Hindu and not taking part in the ceremony be sure to remain respectful and unobtrusive because this is not a tourist spectacle but a sincere and prayerful act of worship for more than 90% of the people there. However, it really is a spectacle: a vibrant, awe-inspiring feast for the eyes and ears.
