Compared to other other temples, this temple is a bit small. They don't do any Archana or pooja here unlike the other temples.

Prasanna Krishnaswamy Temple is quite small compared to other palace temples. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna which is located towards the eastern end of main palace building. The temple was built in 1829 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III. As we enter the temple we can see the murals on the inner walls of central pillared hall, depicting the tales from the Hindu religious Bhagavata book which is based on the life of Lord Krishna, which are considered as a excellent example of 19th century Mysore art. There is the idol of the main deity, Lord Krishna known by the name Ambegalu Krishna, which is an image of young Krishna in crawling posture with a butter ball in his hand and there are around 40 bronze idols of gods, goddesses, saints and sages with statue of Krishnaraja Wodeyar along with his wives which are still worshiped in the temple, also there is shrine dedicated to Sage Atri who was the priest of the Maharaja. You can also see other shrine with idols of Ramanujacharya, Paravasudeva, Ananthasayana and Rajamannar. This particular temple is known for grand celebrations for Krishna Janmashtami festival which is the birthday of Lord Krishna that occurs for 8 days, during the eighth day of Krishna Janmashtami, a religious procession is organised from the temple, especially cow procession is a major attraction during the festivities. Thus this temple has its own religious significance.
