I hadn’t been back here since 2019 after which Floatel was bought by a new entity who spent more than two years renovating it & what a wonderful job they’ve done.
We had an amazing lunch on Shaptami. Serving staff was very courteous though a bit busy due to the immense amount of customers coming in.
Food tasted excellent & with the sumptuous new decor & wonderful view of the Ganges on a cloudy day, this was a wonderful experience for me.

To be honest, I came to this place for the experience and not for food having seen the reviews. And all that is written in the reviews is true and worse in reality. Highly not recommended!

We went here on a weekday and there was plenty of space, both indoor and outdoor. The decor and ambiance is pretty nice and the view of the bridge in the background, the flowing water and the steady flow of ferries is mesmerizing. And that's where, the experience of this place ends.
We went in the evening during sunset and order a few cups of coffee and tea.

Funny incident number 1: They said they have cappuccino but not latte. For those who know, both have the same 3 layers in different ratios, which shows how clueless the servers and the staff are about coffee. But I let that one slide. We also ordered a sandwich and a prawn cocktail salad.

Funny Incident 2: they came back after 10 mins and said that the prawn cocktail will take 45 mins. We all know, a prawn cocktail can be made from scratch in 10 mins cuz all u need is the sauce(mayo, ketchup and horseradish) and boiled prawns.

Nevertheless, the abomination arrived. As you can see from the picture, it was 2 prawns, a lettuce leaf, some sauce and half a boiled egg (yup, that's a new one)
The cappuccino was extremely unbalanced and super bitter( poor quality beans/roasting, poor brewing)
The only redeeming feature was the sandwich.
The servers are extremely clueless that translates to a laughable experience in terms of service.
Go here once for the view if you want. Never, ever eat anything here, except perhaps the sandwich.

Enjoy winter sunsets with "High Tea by the Ganges" ????????

Once you've lived life with high tea, you'd be hard-pressed to get through the evening without it. High tea is the British tradition of drinking tea while sitting in high-backed chairs at a table full of plated items such as cold meats, vegetables, tarts, sandwiches, macarons, salad, homemade bread or crackers with butter, teacakes and fruitcakes.

Exquisitely restored and refurbished, Polo Floatel opens doors in the City of Joy with a view like no other. The hotel’s all day multi-cuisine restaurant, The Bridge - Bistro Bar, offers a vast selection of modern and regionally inspired delicacies along with innovative cocktails and spectacular city views. The thoughtfully curated menu is based on three pillars – the Hotel Polo Towers Group`s rich North East heritage, old Calcutta favorites and the chef’s modern take on comfort food.
