Very high quality market, in my opinion.

Quality is measured by 1. variety 2. quality 3. price 4. reliability. I think on all these metrics, Maniktala Market gets very high marks.

I think that the veggie market gets especially high marks for the number of vendors who sit there.

I'm very impressed. BUT ... as with everything in Calcutta, it's not clean. There are cats and crows at the meat stalls and the ventilation is horrible.

But that's how shopping is done in Calcutta for the best food on sale.

Highly recommended for people with the "right attitude."

Maniktala Market is well-known for its iconic clock tower and pocket-size price of items. Its veg and fish market remain open upto 10pm. The market wears a greener looks as vegetable vendors sit with fresh vegetables on adjacent Vivekananda road. Some medicine shops, cake shop, sweet-meat shops and mobile phone shops you get there. However, no up-to-date garment outlet or branded outlets with wide variety range under one roof is available here.

One of the premium market place in Kolkata. Varieties type of fish available here. Apart fish vegetables also easily available. I like to marketing here. It's just opposite to Central Blood bank.
