It's not a temple. It's residence of Dutta family. Their Durga Puja stands out from the rest. The idol being of Hara-Parbati. Very traditional and once you enter you will be in the medieval Bengal amidst Levi's jeans, Polo t-shirts, Nikkon cameras, and Apple mobile phones. The pomp, grandeur and the hospitality of the typical 18th. Century Bengal still outclasses the LCD lights. More than 400 people lunch every day till the Bijoy Dashami, which is not a matter of joke!

An ancient residential building in North Kolkata, in Beadon Street. Marvellous structure with an open central courtyard and in well maintained condition. Established by the eminent and influential personality - Bholanath Dutta.

Famous for its open to all Lantern (Fanus) Festival, which takes place each year on Kali Puja. Handmade & customised lanterns, made in the owner 's place are used on the day. It is a great experience to witness a lost heritage of old Kolkata.

Address
33/2, Beadon Street (Alias Abhedananda Road), Kolkata – 700006

( Beadon street has been divided and renamed as Abhedananda Road upto Bidhan Sarani and then till Rabindra Sarani it has been renamed as Dani Ghosh Lane. From Chatu Babu Latu Babu’s house, it is a straight way drive. There are auto rickshaw services on this road too. Bholanath Dham falls on the left just some distance from the place where Abhedananda Road meets Maniktala crossing.)

At the Kulin Gandhabanik Dutt household of Bholanath Dham the idol of Durga is sitting on Shiva’s Lap with no weapons or Vahana and no Mahishashur around. This is a legendary idol visualized by one of the legendary Merchants of history Dhanapati Saudagar, also belonging to the Kulin Gandhabanik clan. Bholanath Dutt started this Shiva Durga Puja idol in 1905 at Bholanath Ashram of Varanasi. His sons continued the Puja till 1913 after Bholanath’s death and then eventually shifted it to Sovabazar at Calcutta and finally to the residence at Beadon Street.
