Just beside historical Sarbamangala mandir burdwan, kamantala is also a landmark of burdwan. There was an old canon under a large banyan tree, which was fired once every year during Durgapuja to aware the local public the exact timing of sandhi puja (junction of mahaastami and mahanabami tithi). It was a very old ritual. But in the year 1997, the old canon bursted causing death and injuries of many persons. Since then the ritual has been stopped. Later, Burdwan municipality placed a replica of that old canon made of fibre. This replica was created by local artist Siddhartha Pal. Historical place of interest no doubt... But vendors, tea stalls, fast food stall, decorators etc. made the place crowdy and stuffy.

Just beside historically famous Sarbamangala Mandir, Kamantala , Burdwan is another famous historical landmark. Here was placed the famous canon donated by Burdwan Maharaja for performing Durga Puja. In Sandhi Puja of Durga Ashtami and Nabami this canon was utilised for make locals aware of Sandhi Puja timings. But in 1997, during Puja rituals, that old canon busted causing many deaths. Now a days, Burdwan Municipality placed a replica canon in that old place for visitors .The place is now a commercial hub with heavy hustle bustle.
