Jalashayi Ghat i.e. sleeping in water, also called Jalasen Ghat, is named according to folk legend that Lord Shiva sleep in the deep water of the Ganga at this ghat. It was also mentioned as Mokshadvareshvara Ghat. Baldeodas Birla built pucca Ghat and a rest house family members of deceased. The ghat serves to ferry wood for cremation. Earlier Khiraki (“the window”) Ghat was structure from where attendants can watch the cremation. Presently this is defunct. There are several Sati stones under an old fig tree.
Redeveloped Ghat provides direct access to Vishwanath Temple complex.

Jalashayi Ghat is also called Jalasen Ghat. According to folk legend Lord Shiva sleep in the deep water of the Ganga at this ghat, that is how the name Jalashayi.
