This was our second trip to Agra. During our first trip many years ago we were quite taken with the beautiful marble tables, but were so put off by the hard sells, pressure, and inconsistent stories that we left without purchasing one, which we regretted. This time we were once again brought to a couple of the shops by our tour guides and while the craftsmanship was great the prices were exorbitant. Afterwards, our driver took us to the Jewel Palace which is off the beaten path and looks very nondescript from the outside, but it truly was a great shop to work with. The quality was as good or better than any other shop we had visited, Davesh and his group were helpful, informative and gave us space to ponder and discuss. There was no hard sell (except from my wife). In the end we couldn't decide so we bought 3 tables and some coasters for gifts. I paid with Visa.
The two big tables were shipped to our home in Canada. Davesh said he would keep us informed in terms of the shipping progress, would let us know the tracking number, and we will have our tables in about 30 days. He followed through on each of his promises and our tables have arrived 28 days from purchase via FedEx in perfect condition. The packing job was absolutely first rate (see photo).
A few key learnings: Drivers and guides get a kickback for each customer that they bring who buys something, so there are no impartial actors and it's very tough to know who to trust; there is lots of competition so be sure to negotiate; prices vary a lot - the place our tour guide initially took us was avg 1500USD per table, Jewel Palace avg 400-600 USD, and slightly higher prices (650) in other places (hotel etc); don't leave without getting something if you like it, it costs way more to have to go back!

Jewel Palace is the place which exibits the real craftsmanship of handicraft .
Maintain the legacy of extemporory mughal designs with team expert craftmans at their work place .Moreover the products are really Value for money .
Staff also win the heart with their hospitality and behaviour .

My tour guide told me that this is the most reasonable marble inlay place. I was not at all disappointed. Really fabulous products at good price. Highly recommended.
