Beauty where it is unexpected and the foulness of mankind where it is undeserved. The water is murky and strewn with litter, a sad and surprising sight given the temples surrounding the pond. The water, dank as it is, is also home to a huge number of lotuses, each thrusting up their own beautiful flowers of blue and pink. Sunset over the pond is beautiful and peaceful and, whilst wandering around the perimeter, I noticed several people calmly enjoying it.
