Good place for leisure . It's a good place to relax I've been there to meet a friend. Calm experience. Many varieties of food available. But I took only soda. Nice.

TLDR: Do not go here. It is so over hyped. Save your money for the other restaurants on your vacation.
The service here is terrible and there are people constantly smoking outside and drinking. The food is okay, but not good enough for the price and poor service. Get the chicken leg.
It's hard for me to wrap my head around why this restaurant is one of the top 5 most talked about and visited restaurants in Pondicherry. It doesn't deserve such recognition with their current performance.

The amuse-bouche of bread and moussed almond foam with a small pumpkin spread was decent. I wish they gave more of the bread.

Chicken leg: It had a nice barbecue tasting sauce and was cooked well. The beans were a good touch. I'm surprised I liked it as I am usually not a fan of things that taste like boiled chicken.

Lamb dish: It was bland and tasted like undercookd gamey mush. I returned the dish after discussing with the manager. You should always ask patrons how they want their meat cooked and take note if the meat is not cooked well. If it won't be cooked well, you should warn them when they are ordering, so that they can make an informed decision.

Lobster bisque: Very average and was pricey. The lobster was also a bit over cooked.

I hate the smell of smoke. There was no cooling except these huge dusty fans in the garden. On a hot day no one wants to be seated in the garden outside. Even at night no one wants to be bitten by mosquitoes. This is a huge error on their part. Why would you not have some indoor seating?

We made reservations as people made it seem like it was mandatory. For dinner it will be. We went for lunch and we were the only ones eating there. They give you these silver forks that are so banged around there are dents in the fork tines.
Why would you not replace your forks if they are so scraped up?
No one wants to eat with such banged up forks. Asked for replacements and they said these forks are antique and are 10 years old. Well if something is antique at 10 years old, what does that make me, positively ancient? Service is just as important as the food.

The tasting menu at La Villa is out of this world ! Their delicately flavoured foams paired with pleasantly surprising applications of their skill with every ingredient is unparalleled. Also the experience is a slow bloom to the finale which was a fruit interpreted 3 ways - the perfect end to a perfect 7-course meal !!
