The long distance boat from Kollam to Alleppey doesn’t run any more but they do a 5 hour round trip on Ashtamudi which is great. It costs 400 rupees for a lower deck seat, plus 100 for lunch which is tasty. The boat leaves at 11:30. The views are beautiful, and on our boat we ended up having singing, dancing and poetry. All the staff were very professional and friendly. This was a highlight of our time in India.

Water transport facilities, very close to the KSRTC Bus Stand. Tourist boats and service boats for regular commute. There is also a tourist help kiosk in the vicinity. Very beautiful place.

There is parking charge for vehicles here. The rate is Rs 20/- for cars. However, the man who collects the charge took Rs.50/- from me
. Later when I found the true rate he refunded Rs.30/- back. Vehicle owners be alerted.
