Lot of history, folklore and amazing vibes. Definitely a must visit iconic place in south Bengaluru. Coupled with beautiful park, vicinity of more temples - this place is definitely worth spending few hours. Early morning visits are recommended for more peaceful time and to experience the bugle rock park.

Parking is available on the main or other parallel roads. There is a pay and use public toilet on main Bulll temple road.

The annual fair involving groundnuts is very famous event associated with legacy, recently I saw there are statues along the the steps which depicts this event.

The Bull Temple, also known as Nandi Temple, is one of the oldest temples in the city of Bengaluru. The temple is popularly called as 'Dodda Basavana Gudi' by the locals and is the biggest temple dedicated to Nandi in the world.

On weekends it's highly crowded and facing difficulty with parking. On the top, some souvenir shop is available.

The architectural style of the Bull Temple is mainly Dravidian and was constructed by Kempe Gowda. It is believed that the origin of the river Vrishabhavati is at the feet of Nandi. The entire sculpture of the bull is carved out of one single granite rock. The statue is 4.5 meters high and 6.5 meters long. Coconut oil, butter and 'benne' are regularly applied to this statue. This had led to the originally grey statue to turn black.

The Bull temple located in the area of Basavangudi, it is Lord Shiva's Vahana Nandi's temple. The nandi statue measures 4.5 meters in height and 6.5 meters in length, which makes it one among the largest Nandi Images in the world.
Near this temple there is Bugle Rock park which is very old and beautiful park , there is also Dodd Ganapathi temple near by,
The temple was built in the 16th century by Kempe Gowda of the Vijayanagara Empire.
The history of temple is as follows, the area was well-known for its rich cultivation of groundnuts and peanuts. But there was a bull in the region which used to damage the crops. As the damages grew bigger and bigger, the farmers became worried and eventually decided to build a temple for the bull and worship it.
