Very ancient temple at the city centre. There are about 250 steps to climb. Scenery from outside the temple on a clear day is beautiful. Sri Shankaracharya is said to have meditated here for about 6 months here before proceeding towards Himalayas. A must visit place for all tourists.

One of the most popular places in Srinagar. High security area. One has to climb 270 steps by stairs to reach the temple situated at the top of the hill. The full view of Dal lake from the top is mesmerizing. Prasad can be purchased from here for Rs. 100 per packet containing dry fruits etc.

It was a very personal experience that the temple is survived on the hill top where supposedly Shankaracharya visited once.
Maintained by BSF, beautifully kept. It has got some steps (more than 100 but not very tiring). Entire Srinagar is visible from the top.
Must visit place in Srinagar
