Rezang La is a pass at around 16,000 ft on the south-eastern approach to Chusul Valley, Ladakh. Due to its close proximity to the India-China border, it is a highly sensitive area.
On the 20th of October in the year 1962, the Chinese attacked the Indian border along the North-East Frontier Agency and Ladakh. This came to be what we know today as the Indo-Sino War. In November 1962, at about 3:30 am, clashes occurred at the Rezang La pass at Chusul Valley. It was a battle that made Major Shaitan Singh and his 120 Vir Ahir (Ahir Company from Rewari, Haryana.) of Rezang La immortal in our memories.
