Lovely place for religious offerings...situated near Govt. Arts and Creative College. Wonderful view with three water fall namely- Sandhya, Lalita & Kanta flows relentlessly. The view is breath taking with beautiful temples located in a hilly place. The environment is majestic. I feel so peaceful and harmony visiting and relaxing near the stones. Famous for Baisistha Rishi after whom the place has been dedicated. Believed to possess the foot impression of Rishi Baisistha. Constructed by Ahom king Rajeswar Singha.

This temple is located on the outskirts of Guwahati. The temple is said to be on the location of sage Vasistha's ashram. There is a shiva temple and also two wells which are said to be the forms of Lord Shiva and Shakthi. A river runs behind the temple and there is also a temple next to it which is believed to be the place where sage Vasistha did his daily meditations.
The temple surroundings is very peaceful. No crowds. We can spend as much or as little time there. But the place is full of monkeys. So take care of your belongings, specially food items. There is a parking place just outside the temple.
Overall a nice experience but felt the place could be better maintained.

It is an ancient Shiva Temple of the Vedic age believed to be founded by Basistha Rishi. It is located in south east Guwahati, well connected by the City Buses, cabs and bike taxi.
You take a few stairs for the temple. A water stream originating from hills of Meghalaya is a prime attraction here. The water, however, is muddy. Be a little careful as the rocks are slippery here. Monkeys are ample here and ready to snatch your Prasad!
As of November 2021, complete renovation works are ongoing which may take some 4-5 more months for completion.
