The Ahoms, who ruled the entire Brahmaputra valley for six hundred years were the mighty rulers of Assam. A few cannons of the Ahom period are displayed in the Karenghar(Talatalghar) complex, Joysagar. The cannons are of various sizes. The biggest cannon measures 5.70m long and circumference 3m.The inscriptions found in some cannons bear the date in saka between 1590-1615 corresponding to CE 1668-1693

The Talatal Ghar (Assamese: তলাতল ঘৰ [tɔlatɔl ɡʱɔɹ]) is located in Rangpur, 4 km from present-day Sivasagar, in Upper Assam. It is one of the grandest examples of Tai Ahom architecture. The Talatal Ghar is also the largest of all Tai Ahommonuments.
