First thing you should visit in Mysore is the Mysore palace. It is the best place in Mysore. The architectural work is beautiful. Everyone is allowed to go inside the palace. The volunteers will guide you where to go. If you visit the palace during Sundays or any special holiday then you might get a chance to see the lighting.

The palace preserves its rich heritage, but I feel that the management has restricted access to various areas. Aside from the paintings and common areas with pillars, they have not kept many other spaces open to the public. I observed private guides showcasing swords and other items in rooms that were off-limits to others. These unnecessary closures lead to overcrowding and hinder one's ability to fully appreciate and enjoy the palace
