He became the first Prime Minister of Independent, Democratic, Socialistic, Republic, Secular of India during 15th August, 1947 to 27th May, 1964. If we look back in History then we see that in 1800 India's GDP was 23 % world GDP and in 1700 India's GDP was 27 % world GDP ! But during the 200 years British ruled, India was caused to move as follows. In 1947, 90% Indian were living below poverty line, 3% world GDP, literacy rate below 17%, life expectancy 27 years and economic growth rate during 1900 to 1947 is 0.001%.
Pandit Nehru was born on 14th November, 1989 in Allahabad. His father was Sri Motilal Nehru and mother was Smt Swarup Rani Nehru. He was a Barrister at Law. He joined the Indian National Congress. He became Congress President in 1929 and called for complete Independence. He actively participated in Salt March 1930, Quit India Movement 1942 etc and imprisoned. Mahatma Gandhi liked him. Being Prime Minister, he raised India to a higher position. He increased the activities of parliamentary democracy. Under his leadership the Congress won 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections. He stressed on science and technology. He introduced IIT, IIM, NIT, AIIMS and five years plan. More than 300 princely states were merged with the Republic of India. Three steel plants, Bhakra Dam etc were established. The volume of exports grew at an annual rate of 2.9% moved to 7.6% in 1960. He initiated Green Revolution, reservation for SC and STs, religious harmony etc. He was not only a great administrator but also a great writer. He wrote An Autobiography, The Discovery of India etc. He played an important role of the Non-aligned movement. He received Bharat Ratna in 1955. But India was defeated in Indo-China war in 1962. Smt Indira Gandhi was his only daughter. He died in harness on 27th May,1964 in New Delhi.
