We chose Kolkata City Tours (Travel Monk) after reading positive reviews on the internet. Our expectations were fully met. On the 9-01-2023 we took a walking tour of the Dalhousie area with Mr Amitava Purkayastha. Right at the beginning he asked the three of us what our interests were. We said we were interested in history. We walked along the old streets in that area and he gave us detailed accounts of the history of Calcutta. We were able to build an analytical picture of the city over three centuries. His stories took us back to those days vividly. It was a very interesting and satisfying morning.

On 10-01-23, we went on a full-day tour with Mr Babu, the tour assistant and Kishore Singhji, the driver.
Mr Babu also enquired about our interests and took us around. As we had already seen St John's Cathedral during the walking tour, Mr Babu was more than happy to change the tour plan. He took us to College Street, Indian Coffee House and Book shops. We were fortunate to see the Neveh Shalome Synagogue. We could not have seen these places by ourselves. These places gave us a true feel of the city.
He took very good care of us and showed us around with great enthusiasm the whole day.

I absolutely loved our Kolkata tour with Babu and Rabi (I might be misspelling the names), they really made an effort to suit the tour to our interests and went above and beyond for a really great experience.
They are very knowledgeable, respectful and funny! Our Kolkata trip wouldn’t be the same without them.
I definitely recommend giving them a chance for a personalised tour, you won’t regret it.
Again, thank you so much, I wish all tour guides were like yours!

My partner and I had a great time in Kolkata because of our guides.
We were asked what kind of a tour we like - to which we said we wanted to get to know the daily lives of people of Kolkata - and they delivered above our expectations. Always incredibly nice and polite
