This biographical museum has a rich collection of articles, photographs, letters, sculptures, oil paintings related to the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi; specimens of hand-spun threads by the members of National Congress and so on.
The museum houses five galleries-
1. Mural Gallery
2. Gandhi & Freedom Movement
3. Bengal Gallery
4. Diorama Gallery
5. Audio-Visual Room
It also organizes special lecture, symposium, workshop, exhibition, meetings frequently. The museum has a Self Help Group unit which gives training in activities like food processing and preservation, manufacturing jute products etc. to the needy local women with a purpose to make them self-sufficient. We watched a documentary film on the history of independence movement in Barrackpore.
There is also a sales counter where you can buy photographs, keychains, pen, books, food products, diaries etc. The museum is open everyday except Wednesday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Entry fee is ₹10 for Indian citizens (above 10 years of age) and ₹50 for the foreigners. There is a special discount for a group of students (₹5).

Very interesting historical museum. Pre independence period history are being exhibited through photography and video projection. Guide is also available. One shop is also there for selling various books on Mahatma Gandhi and also books covering pre independence history of India.

Adjacent to Barrackpore Dhobi Ghat. A memorabilia of the Father of Nation. Very well maintained. Still photography was allowed. For videos you have to take their special permission. There's no entry fee.
