This is an excellent area for commuters in South Kolkata, since it is a juncture from where one can access local trains, the metro, buses, trams, and every other possible mode of transport. However, at the same time, it is also a nightmare for every singe person who is attempting to cross the road. Not only are the roads itself much narrower than those at Rash Behari Crossing or even Mudiyali, the traffic signal stays red for a very, very brief period of time. What results is a rush of large number of people, cars, bikes, and cycles who struggle to cross the road in about 15 seconds. Often you will get stranded in the middle of the road, between the two tram lines because the traffic signal turned green too soon. Additionally, the juncture of the 4-point crossing has a very small opening, that causes immense and extremely dangerous bottle-necks throughout the day.
