The temple was built 1911. The Rath Yatra (car festival) of Barisha though commenced in 1719 and was started by Roy Krishnadeb Majumdar Chowdhury. The temple was built to give a permanent shape to celebration of Rath Yatra at Barisha. It was rebuilt in 1965.
