The lower part of Kedara Ghat was separately developed as ghat by the king of Vijayanagaram in 1890. Pucca structure and a small palatial building in south Indian architectural style was constructed. Hence It is called Vijayanagaram Ghat. Close to the mansion is the south Indian temple style facade of the shrines to Shiva and Vinayaka. It is clean ghat and well maintained steps.

Visited this ghat in the early morning morning on the auspicious day of kartik Purnima and the ghat was full of people to take the holy dip. The lower part of Kedara Ghat was separately developed as ghat by making it pucca and also constructing a small palatial building, in south Indian architectural style, by the king of Vijayanagaram in 1890. That is how this is called as Vijayanagaram Ghat. Greaves (1909) has already mentioned this ghat under the name “Ijanagar Ghat”, perhaps wrongly spelling the real name. Later, the king had donated this palace to a great saint Svami Karapatri-Ji, which he adopted as his residence and passed most of his life here.

Among the Ghats of Varanasi , the region of Kedar Ghat has a distinctly different look, as it reflects the South Indian style of architecture. A part of Kedar ghat was used up to built a palatial structure by the royal house of Vijayanagaram in 1890s and came to be called Vijayanagarm Ghat . Close to the mansion is the south Indian temple style facade of the shrines to Shiva and Vinayaka.
