The significance of this place lies in the fact that it is the samadhi of Chidambaranatha Yogi, the guru of one of the trinities of carnatic music, Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar. Dikshitar himself had spent some time in this temple.
The shiva lingam here has a sri chakram on top of it which is a rarity.
