A must visit place outside the main Varanasi city if you love exploring historical places and are fond of amazing architecture. I won't recommend going in the summer season. The best time is after the rainy season and in winter. Along with the Buddhist temple you can also explore the Thai temple and dear park.

Beautifully decorated well maintained site of Lord Buddha's 1st preaching spot. One need to hire guide. Don't go for touts but hire an affiliated guide of tourism dept. They charges an average of 100₹ per head almost only for stupa site. Guide charges extra fees for museum. To enter one need to book tickets via smart phone connected with a online payment wallet. Ticket price for both museum and dhamek stupa site is 25₹. Photography is allowed whereas commercial shooting is prohibited without permission. Small seats of mahayani (square) hinayani (circular) vajrayani (rectangular) can be seen along with dhamek and dharmarajika stupa and ashok stambh foundation pillar, panchyati seat of Buddha and many more to mention are worth seeing.
