This is a heritage place and is an important place for the people of West Bengal, India. It was established by the king of Coochbehar a few centuries ago. Presently, the predecessors of the founder of this temple cannot bear the mammoth expenses of this place. Every year West Bengal state government bear a partial amount related to its maintenance, however, with every passing year the maintenance amount is also getting decreased. The temple is presently not in a good state owing to inadequate maintenance amount. An immediate renovation of the temple and its premises has become an absolute necessity.

Very old Kali Temple near Sonarpura Crossing, towards Godowlia. It is managed by King Family of Cooch Brhar in Bengal, so got the name Cooch Behar Kali Badi. Temple premises had good maintained flower garden. Now it is being used for Car Parking and marriage cereminies and Fairs.
