We paid 8000+ taxes for the rooms and were given an upgrade at 3000 for a suite. Both the rooms were pretty standard and not worth the money we spent. The only good thing about the property was the location. Other than that the property is dainty and not at all worth the price. Reaching the location is difficult, you have to walk after a certain point. It is more difficult when you have little kids travelling with you. The food wasn’t great either, the dinner we had was served after a long wait and it wasn’t good. The breakfast too was bland. The staff is sweet at your face, but they will go through your stuff if they get an opportunity. We left our luggage in their care for sometime and things were stolen, we realised when we got back home. This is inappropriate and completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anybody I know.

The first thing that strikes out is the location of the Hotel which is bang on the banks of the Holy Ganges. The ambience of the hotel has a predominant Haveli aura with Live Instrumental hindustani music being played every evening from 7PM to 10 PM. The rooms are all spacious with adequate Air-conditioning systems. The Washrooms too are pretty large and equipped with modern fittings. The Room service and restaurant personnel are courteous and pleasant mannered. All in all a very satisfying experience for all our family members who had booked 4 rooms for 3 days in May. Not to forget the hotel's private boat service which was of great help while the Tour guide, a gentleman named Sanjay was of extraordinary candour..

My parents and I stayed here for 3 nights. The haveli is on the banks of Ganga with stairs from their central courtyard leading directly onto the Shivala ghat. There is a common balcony and roof terrace with cover that give you a spectacular view of Ganga, where you can sit and meditate or enjoy the sight and sound of the river. The Haveli is beautifully preserved and has an old world charm to it.The river view from the room description would have been fabulous if it was not so a low an opening, so ease in viewing is compromised. We had booked the Shivala suite that had a second room with a window facing the ghat, which gave a better view, but still small, probably due to the haveli’s old design. The place is not accessible by car, however the staff takes care of transport for arrival and departure so didnt have to worry about luggage however the charm of the property makes up for the difficulty in reaching there.\n\nThe service was very good and the staff is very helpful and cordial. The dinner service with live instrumental music in central courtyard makes unwinding at sundown great amidst a cheerful trio troupe on violin tabla and sarangi, my parents especially liked requesting for renditions of favourite 70s golden oldies. The supervising staff are very attentive and helpful. A special thanks to the chef Sanjay for making the traditional breakfast with mouthwatering jalebi for us on request. There was slight language barrier with the staff but overall it was not a big issue.\n\nAlso the hotel provided us with a great guide, Sanjay. He was a lifesaver when it came to arranging the temple darshans and taking us around the city and knowing where to go and when to go. Specially thankful to him, for saving us from getting lost in the maze like streets of old Varanasi.\n\nAs a whole our holiday was very enjoyable and hassle free, we had a swell time.\n\nWould recommend to travelers who won’t mind splurging a little to have a holiday to pamper their body N soul.\n\nOnly con I found was the neighbour's smelly drain overflowing over the pathway leading to the hotel entrance. It seems a temporary issue though.

Our experience in staying is best so far. Room with Ganga view is our best experience. Also service is best of its class. Also food in the restaurant is of great taste. Mr. Uday at reception have good spiritual knowledge and explain spiritual knowledge very well.

Everything was good. A bit overpriced but location was good. They spoiled it on checkout. They asked me to check my baggage for a missing hand towel. Don't they understand that if someone pays a whooping sum of approx 10000 for 17 hours stay, it's not for a hand towel. My wife was asked to go to the room again and check if she had misplaced it somewhere. My whole trip was spoiled due to this and I had no answers to my wife why I chose this property. \nDisastrous behaviour. Mental Harrasment is what they do to you.

Just excellent in every sense- location, ambience, services and of course the staff!\nI visited Varanasi with my 92 yo father. Our visit couldn’t have been this memorable without the stay in this hotel. The view of Ganga from the room, the ever helpful staff members, wonderful food … truly words cannot describe how welcomed and supported we felt during our stay. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who works for the Suryodaya Amritara Haveli at Varanasi for such a wonderful experience.

One of the best place to stay on the Ghats of Varanasi. A well-maintained and standard hotel with nice and helpful staff and great atmosphere.\nThe rooms are pretty good and clean. Bathrooms are big enough and greatly maintained.\nOverall atmosphere of the hotel would give you peace and happiness. The river facing rooms have great view of the Ganges.\n\nThey have free welcome drink, Ganga Aarti visit ( on boat) and live music concert for guests. Food served is tasty vegetarian food and no non-veg or alcohol is served as it's on the Ghats.\n\nThe down stairs would lead you directly to river Ganges. You can get a boat if you come to the hotel through ghats or get a taxi, rikshaw if you come by road.\nThey have reasonable price taxi arrangements and the staff are really willing to help you for any of your needs.\nWould request you to include some vegan alternatives also to your menu as veganism is a fast growing movement all over the world.\n\nExtremely happy about the stay and highly recommend them..
