The mystery is the Shivling of Kailash temple, despite being bigger than the door Established.

Although there are many famous Shiva temples in the city, but the Kailash temple located in Shivala is full of faith, mystery and characteristics. Built of white marble, this temple has a seven feet long and five feet high Shivling. That is, it is bigger than the door in which it is installed. The diameter of Shivling is so much that no one can accept it with both hands. It is claimed that this is the biggest Shivling of North India. The temple was built 151 years ago by Maharaj Guru Prasad Shukla. It is believed that offering water regularly on 21 Mondays fulfills.

The temple was built in 1869. Its Shivling was prepared in Unnao. When the Shivling was being brought to Kanpur, then Ganga ji had increased a lot. It took six months for the water to recede. After this, a year passed till the Shivling was brought to the temple via Sarsalya Ghat. During this time the construction of the temple was completed. Then the mistake happened that the size of Shivling was not taken care of while constructing the installation room, due to which the door remained small. When the priests told this problem to Guruprasad, he got disappointed. He didn't want to break down the door. He gave up food. More than a month has passed. The Shivling was kept in the temple premises. Only then a Shankaracharya came to Kanpur. When the problem was told to him, Shankaracharya started the havan. All the doors of the temple were closed. Guru Prasad had a dream only after three days. When the doors of the temple were opened in the morning, the Shivling itself was established there. Everyone was surprised to see this.
