This beautiful 1941
"Kimtee Pigeon Tower" inside the bylanes of Hashmath Gunj ( Koti) - Hyderabad - Telangana, India
Located in the middle of a barricaded square , is this "Pigeon Tower" very lovingly and delicately constructed by famous "Kimtees" an old marwadi family of Hyderabad .
Picture 3 : Is of a marble plaque with engraved warning inscriptions in Urdu , which reads as translated
"Anyone who tries to pick up pigeons , chicks , eggs from Hashmatgunj will be acted upon by the police " signed by
Rahmat Yar Jung, Kotwal ( Police Officer ).
Picture 5 and 6 : Are of Marble plaques at entrance bearing names of people who have served in the committee.
Picture 4 : There is one more marble plaque with inscription on the base of the tower, the language which I cannot decipher.
Architecture: Its more of a engineering marvel , constructed on a single centrally supported octogonal pillar bearing heavy weight of cylindrical cantilevered structure , having six stories of pigeon holes all around the and a circular canopy projecting out on the top , for protection from rain and sun.
Notice the shape of pigeon holes of a "inverted heart" shape , thus making the smooth movements of pigeons by being broader in the middle.
Hashmath gunj is named after
"James Achilles Kirkpatrick" a British Resident , who was conferred by title of "Hashmath Jung" by the Nizam.
