Veinthankulam is now being redeveloped as a Bird Sanctuary with a new Bird watching strip. This water body attracted birds during seasons years ago and that was lost when the new bus stand was developed in Tirunelveli a couple of decades ago. In the last few years, with regular seasonal rainfall, and plants/trees in the area saw birds returning. The administration has made an effort to create a park for sighting and have planted trees. They have also created few island-like patches to develop trees for the incoming birds. We hope to see this develop into a popular bird sanctuary & bird watching zone. A good addition to the Tirunelveli city public infra.
