The palai salai kumaran , as this is known, is famous throughout Tamizh Nadu, for its historical connections with Thiruchendhur Arupadyveedu temple of Lord Muruga & the speciality of this place. Every Tuesday and Shastis of any month are festival days. Annual Skanda shasti festival is celebrated with pomp, splendor and bhakti, as every day, there are special poojas, daily processions of deities in the adjacent roads& cultural programs. Priests are very friendly and knowledgeable in the poojas & rituals associated with the Lord. So they are sought after frantically. Devotees worship here before any of their family celebrations take off. There's a sannidhi of Shanideva alsobehind the Utsav Moorthies, which makes this temple a special place. Pamban swamigal's Kumarasthavam & a few stanzas of Arunagirinadhar's Thirupugazh are carved in granite blocks & installed. I experience a certain calmness of mind, & a certain closeness with Murugan& his consorts - Valli ammy& Devayani installed here.

Small temple yet very powerful. You can watch the beauty of the idol here as long as you want . If you are planning to offer garlands don't buy chrysanthemum based garlands. They won't be offered to God. The shops near the temple offer Garlands of all types without the undesired flowers. For rosewater , the temple management provides pure rosewater. It's a HRCE controlled temple.
