150 years old church . Very beautiful gothic architecture style church. Felt vibrant while praying ????. Don't miss it it's a must visit place in Madurai.

St Mary's Cathedral stands majestically at E Veli St, Mahalipatti, Madurai. You can't miss its facade of white and blue lining with two 42ft towers housing the church bells. Built as a small Chapel in 1841, it went through many construction amalgamating impeccable various architectural styles such as European, Continental and Roman and in 1969 acquired the status of Cathedral.
The tranquility of the church is surprisingly serene amidst the surrounding traffic. The interior is bathed with colourful shadows from the sun penetrating the beautiful stained glass.
