One of my most favourite place once. Sad to see that the quality and taste needs much improvement . Briyani average and kala pop superb. Giving 4 stars for my love for the loyalty . Else would have given 3.

I heard about this restaurant while I was window shopping in the famous T Nagar market in Chennai. After roaming here and there in The Nagar area for a couple of hours I felt the need to have lunch and refreshment. So I asked a gentleman there about restaurants nearby specializing in South Indian style biryani. So that gentleman recommended Ambur Birysanis to me. So I walked from in front of Saravana Stores and it took me around twenty minutes to reach Ambur Biryaanis on foot which is located in Pondy Bazar.
Ambur Biryaanis seemed to be popular among the people of Chennai visiting Pondy Bazar. Seats were almost full when I reached there. Time was almost the past noon. The seating arrangements are such that there's a common seating area without air conditioning and there's an area where A/C is provided for comfort of the customers. On the cleanliness and aesthetic front I found the restaurant to be lacking and needed some work. I had ordered a chicken biryani and a chicken chettinad curry (gravy). There's virtually no waiting time once the order is placed. The order is delivered instantly as the staff basically keeps the items ready. Regarding the quantity of items I would say it's quite sufficient for two people to have as lunch with one plate each of biryani and chicken curry. As regards the quality, I found it to be average. The city item I had ordered was too spicy and fight taste good. Many of the chicken pieces in the curry got mashed. The good thing is that a thick and tasty Raita and dinner chopped onions are also served along with the biryani complementary.
The toilet and the wash basin area are unclean though.
Staff behaviour is very good. The restaurant accepts cash as well as cards as modes of payment.
Overall my experience was satisfactory.

But the grill was little bit raw....with more masala it was bought in a matter urgency to the customer
Mutton briyani was good with right ratio of oil and masala blended to the rice and with tender mutton.
