Very ancient temple that is one of the paadal petra sthalam. The age of this temple dates back to centuries. The Lord Shiva of this temple is known by the name ‘Thyagaraja’ and a Devi Parvathi of this temple is known by the name ‘Vadivudai Amman’. The Goddess is so admirable but the only drawback is sometimes you’ll have to wait endlessly amongst the crowds in the evening just to see her. The temple’s premises are so huge and spacious and there are so many miniature temples within it. Marriages are conducted in this temple as well and there many flower vendors throng the entrance of the temple. Car parking isn’t available so you’ll have to park the vehicle somewhere in the side of the streets.

Must visit temple in chennai. Temple is so big . Parking is not sufficient for this much big amd famous temple. Opened till 12 PM and by 4 PM it will be re open. You can spend an hour or two inside temple . That much space is inside.. it will be very crowded on festival time better to park far from temple.

I have been to this temple with my family a lot of times. This temple is situated in Thiruvotiyur which is one of the busy areas in North Chennai. This temple has deities of Lord shiva in the name of Thiyagaraja Swamy, Aadhipureeswarar, and Thiruvottrieswarar. We also have deity of Vadivudaiamman aka Tripurasundari amman. This temple is neatly maintained and have very good space inside for the devotees to relax themselves. This temple will be crowded on all the special occasions so it’s better to avoid visiting during that time. You will always get feel blessed after visiting this temple. The temple parking space can be managed properly so that adequate vehicles can be parked. Overall it’s one of the best temples in north Chennai and I will recommend people to visit this temple at least once.
