First time purchase in NOCHIKUPPAM Fish Market make me disappointed. You can reach this fish market through lighthouse loop road. There are several small stalls selling fish, squid, prawn, crab, and many other items on both sides of the street. My visit was so early at 7:30 am that many stalls were not open yet. It is my experience that fish are very fresh, however you should bargain the price and monitor the weight carefully. Shopkeeper weighed fish for 1kg, but when I checked at home, it was 700 grams. In Kasimedu, Chintadripet, and Sayapet fish markets, I have purchased fishes, but here and in Kasimedu, the fishes are fresh.
Pros:
Fresh Fishes
Lot of stalls and spacious space.
Lot of places for parking vechicles.
Cons:
The majority of shops open after 8:00 a.m.
You should be careful when checking prices and weights, otherwise these shopkeepers may trick you.

The market offers a wide variety of seafood, including fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters, at reasonable prices.
The quality of the seafood is excellent, and the vendors are friendly and helpful, providing a great shopping experience.
The market's location is convenient, with easy access to transportation and other amenities. The market's cleanliness and hygiene standards are also good, ensuring that the seafood is fresh and safe to consume. Overall, a great place for seafood lovers to shop in Mylapore.

The location is very close to light house marina. Street full of fish shops....lots of varieties of fish. Even you can get very fresh fish direct from sea. Go behind the shop towards the shore. Fresh fishes are sold near boat. You should know how to bargain and which fish to buy. Near the shops people are available to cut & clean the fish.
Best time to go is early morning. If you want to buy big size fishes it's only available in the shops... fishes sold near the boat are medium size but fresh...
Worth trying on Sunday morning...the roads are relatively free
