The Manchow soup was unusually thick and lacked seasoning. Ordered chilli chicken fried and felt like the chef was in a hurry to close the restaurant as the chicken pieces were slightly undercooked and coated in 2x cornstarch flour mixture with barely any chicken inside. To top it up, the staff is lazy, uncourteous and kept on insisting on cash payments only.

Would definitely not be visiting this restaurant again coz nor the food or service is worth it ????

This hotel was okay for having lunch or dinner with friends or family. The quantity and quality of the food for the price seem fine. Atmosphere was good and service was okayish. Overall it is an okay value for the money.

I have been going to this restaurant for more than 40 years. It was probably one of the few Chinese restaurants in Madras (Chennai) at that time. They have gone through several generations and their food is probably one of the genuine Chinese foods.
It is located a little after Madhya Kailash junction and it used to be the favorite joint for the Madras IItians. The restaurant has beautifully done Oriental Interior with Chinese motif – adorned with Chinese artifacts collected over the years.
It is a little sad to see that what was once a crowded restaurant now looks deserted – at least when I visited last month and last week.
I am a conservatist . They say I would go to the same restaurant, sit in the same place and order the same food over and over. I have to admit that I do that even now. I have brought dozens of friends, both locally as well as from abroad to this place.
A typical order would be –

Chicken Noodles Soup
Chilli Fried Pork
Pork Soft Noodles
Chinese Chopsuey With Soft Noodles

Waldorf restaurant is one of the very few hotels which serve Pork in Chennai. The food is delicious even now. I would rate this at par with Shinkow Chinese Restaurant in Ootacamund (ooty).
