Sunny was an amazing guide with excellent English speaking skills during our stay in Jodhpur. We were shown the Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant thada. Sunny was really good at explaining the history and significance of everywhere we went, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time in his home city. Thoroughly recommend!

Just finished an absolutely awesome day tour with Sunny. We wanted to visit the Mehrangarh Fort and then spend some time walking through the back streets of Jodhpur old town. We met Sunny late morning and headed for the Mehrangarh Fort. We took a rickshaw to the fort and we stopped a couple of times at photo vantage points. At the fort Sunny provided us with a full commentary as we made our through the structure dating back to 1459. Seeing the fort and learning about its history was amazing and the amount of time we spent there was timed perfectly!
Avoiding the crowds and making our way out of the back of the fort we headed to the streets of the old town and the blue city. Sunny was born in Jodhpur and knows the old town back streets like the back of his hand, he took us through sections we would never have seen if we had been on our own. We were definitely taken off the tourist trail and really saw the old city from a local’s point of view. We stopped at Rani Mahal for a Chai on the roof and a chat with the lovely owner Nisha. Other highlights for us were the sweet factory – where the Indian sweets are still made by hand, the local fruit and vegetable market and a locksmith who still cuts keys by hand – no machines! We stopped whenever we wanted for Chai and had a chat to the colourful locals who were all so very friendly and willing to pose for a photo or two – just amazing!
We started the day at the fort, meandered through the streets for hours and somehow ended up back at our hotel late afternoon! This was our first time in Jodhpur and thanks to Sunny he made it an unforgettable day. Sunny’s English and knowledge of Jodhpur are outstanding. If you really want to get know the real Jodhpur and locals, would highly recommend Sunny as a guide. He is so accommodating and happy to tailor the tour to you and what you want to see.

Foot note:
Sunny was such a great guide that we ended up booking him for a second day. We took a jeep out to one of the villages about a 40-minute drive out of Jodhpur. We went for a walk through the village. We stopped at various points where Sunny explained a bit about village life and the different activities that were occurring. He took us to see a local potter who provided us with a demonstration of his craft. There was no pressure to purchase any items, but we ended up buying a couple of small pieces. From here we went to a local carpet maker, who hand weaved carpets with his wife. Again, no pressure to make a purchase, but the carpets were amazing and so beautiful, we did end up making a purchase. Driving back to Jodhpur we saw a number of native birds and animals wandering around the countryside. Another amazing couple of hours with Sunny. Overall a couple of awesome tours with Sunny!
