The book I have chosen to read and review is a book called Skulduggery Pleasant The End of The World it is a mystery/crime book written by Derek Landy, a 39 year old writer from Ireland best known for his Skulduggery Pleasant series. In 2008 Derek Landy won the Red House Children’s Book Award, and in 2009 and 2010 Playing with Fire and Mortal Coil both won the Irish Children’s Book Award. Derek Landy has written a lot of other books as well including Skulduggery Pleasant Dark Days and Skulduggery Pleasant Armageddon Outta Here. The characters include Skulduggery the mysterious skeleton, Valkyrie Skulduggery’s companion, and Ryan the 15 year old boy who is the only one who can activate the doomsday machine and the evil foe and his gang who try and make Ryan activate the doomsday machine. This book is about a mysterious man named Skulduggery and his companion Valkyrie trying to save an ordinary boy named Ryan from the evil foe who is trying to activate the doomsday machine; will Ryan actually activate the doomsday machine?
