We discovered this a very special museum (Alice Garg National Seashell Museum) in Jaipur by chance. It’s a unique museum. Surprisingly not widely known, nor recommended in any sightseeing itinerary, hence I would share with friends & family in Jaipur and to folks visiting Jaipur

It’s an awesome museum, brainchild of one lady Mrs Alice Garg (she's 85 years now), day-to-day operations handled by her manager (one man show), located very close to airport in Malviya Nagar.

It has thousands of varieties of unique and beautiful seashells from all over the world cataloged meticulously. From very tiny ones requiring magnifying glass to jumbo ones measuring 100+ kgs, from ultra fragile ones to rugged ones.

Amazed to see the collection and the science and history behind each. The manager gives a very enthusiastic tour of the facility spread over two floors providing very detailed information on each category of seashell and also answers passionately to all queries with smile on his face. Hats off to this man for his dedication and enthusiasm. At the end of the tour he shows a few live shells which will amaze both kids and adults, alike.

Student school tours to this place would be very educational. For tourists, it would be very fascinating experience. They even have small subset of shells to pick as souvenirs and even books & postcards to purchase.

Timings: 10 am to 5 pm (All days except Thursday) and Entry Fee: Rs 50 (Rs 30 for children).

Highly recommended place. Can be done in 30 mins if rushed up, 2 hrs if done with attention to detail to all exhibits. Highly recommended place for all city residents and travelers to this pink city.
