This playground is part of the beautiful Nehru Rose Garden which is situated at the center of the city.
Nehru Rose Garden is a very beautiful, well laid out and big garden at the center of the city with rich history. It was inaugurated in 1972 by then CM of the state, Giani Zail Singh on Children's Day and has been extended as well as renovated multiple times.
Convenient location, easily approachable and can be spotted on the roadside from a moving vehicle.
Well managed, organised and nicely maintained.
Spacious and clean walkways.
Different varieties of roses are grown over most of the garden space in small patches and grouped together according to their types. The grouping and colour coordination is impeccable, making you enjoy and admire the spectacular views.
In addition, garden offers different amenities at regular distances such as tennis court, library, dairy etc. I do not remember visiting many gardens or reserves with such wide variety of conveniences to offer.
There are different sculptures, statues and machines including few tractors as well as figures created from grass spread over iron bar outlines, placed at different locations around the garden with relevant information like history, idea, curator etc. provided over the accompanying boards.
This garden has something for every age group to spend their time in leisure or to endulge in recreational activities.
There are multiple playgrounds in this garden most of which are well equipped for children to enjoy including different slides, rides, swings etc. and there is a dedicated tennis court for the tennis enthusiasts. Benches in different forms, shapes and at different heights, some covered and others open, are located throughout the garden at regular distances for groups, families and couples to take rest and enjoy the views. You can easily spot elderly groups on sunny winter days enjoying the sunlight or playing the board games.
There is musical fountain near the entrance of this garden from the Government College Road which is used for hosting artists and events at times.
Different parts of this park were inaugurated by prominent political personalities in the presence of different mayors and commissioners of the city all of which is well engraved over different founding stones across the park e.g. musical fountain was inaugurated in 1995 by then CM of the state, Beant Singh.
Free wi-fi is available in this garden courtesy a leading ISP which is advertised around.
This park is dog friendly.
Dustbins are provided at regular distances with instruction to keep the garden clean which is a good initiative from the council towards providing a clean and green atmosphere.
A good place for groups, family, kids, yoga and meditation specially in the morning when it is quieter.
This park gets busier in evenings. Live music is played at times over some weekends or evenings.
Spacious parking area with ample parking space.
Wheelchair parking is not available although there is wheelchair accessible entrance.
You may run into some stray dogs in this garden. Also there is complex web of water pipes spread across for watering the plants.
Separate public restrooms are available for different genders at multiple locations in different directions around the garden.
A good place to do a get-together or organise a barbeque or picnic on a clear day.
Enjoyed the experience.
