The prominent Mandap (or pillared hall on raised platform) within the Shree Jagannath Temple inner Complex for religious congregations is Mukti Mandap (मुक्ति मंडप). It is situated in front of Adi Nrisinh Temple and by southern side of Shree Jagannath Temple. It has existed as long as the temple. As per common belief this was the seat of Bhrahma himself to perform Yagya (यज्ञ) etc. Later vaidiks performed the Yagya. The bramhins from Shohala Sasana (16 villages) have always had a seat in the Mukti mandapa (8 feet high exactly 16 pillars on 5 feet high granite platform). Shankaracharya of Puri is permanent president of this council of Pandits (Scholarly Brahmins) of Mukti Mandap. It is the seat for the most learned scholars of the state who meet here to take important decisions related to rituals of the temple.

This place covered by a roof which has very long pillars.
Ventilation at this place is superb.
