Temple is inside gandhamardhan hill range. . Beautiful water fall with very clean water behind this temple. nature lover must love the location and enjoy the nature of gandhamardhana forest.the way from harishankar to jal Mahadev is very beautiful natural scenery. Temple has three beautiful shivlinga . This place is not that famous like harishankar. I suggest every harishankar visitor must visit this temple.
On the way you can enjoy beautiful palash flower through out the way.

The rarity of Jal Mahadev is that Lord Shiva displays himself (Swayambhu) beneath the flow of a perennial stream. Devotees as offerings drop bel leaves and flower on the gushing rill. The enthralling scenery adds charm to the place. Moreover, a number of Shiva Lingas are ferreted out at the site, which was probably adored earlier by aesthetics. This place was buzzing with religious activities before but, it has slackened now. Those who want enjoyment with bathing can have the pleasure in the stream amid nature. This place is always inhabited by people to relish the holy dip as well as picnic. A visitor feels that he has taken full utilisation of the money spent as he sees the nature at its best with exotic plants and birds, animals, reptiles and insects get full freedom to roam and flock.

Part from this, visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature and also stumble upon wild animals. Besides this, there are other places of interest like Deer Park, Herbal Garden and local market at Harishankar. At the other side of Gandhamardan Hills, if treckers want to have the full pleasure of trecking, they can try a 16 km route to reach Lord Nrusingh at the other side of the Gandhamardan Hills.

Jal Mahadev is 84 km from Balangir via Khaprakhol (16 km from Jal Mahadev) which is a vintage point is connected with Balangir, Bargarh (68 km) Nuapada (67 km) Kantabanji (68 km) Titilagarh (144 km). One has to take a left turn at village Maharapadar (08km) on the way from Khaprakhol to Harishankar (13 km) and reach another village named Kandarabhata which is only 1 km away from Jal Mahadev.

Can guarantee that you are gonna enjoy the ambience on the way to the exact spot where lord Shiva's lingam is present. Will upload the exact location of the same. Trekking the jungle is not an uphill task as already walkable road exists. But have to go through the green cover of forest. Adventurous ,not of the highest order though. Small small waterfall with pool type formations are there. Picnics are often organised . People are very carefree about the cleanliness of the place. Other wise it has the potential to attract all the tourists that flocks to Harishankar. Road to Jal Mahadev is not up to mark. But you will not regret going there. Must visit place you have plans for Harishankar Trip once at Balangir.

Jal Mahadev Temple is situated in the centre around high mountains and the view of the waterfalls from the temple is extraordinary. Those who love nature must visit once in their lifetime especially in the monsoon after climbing the puranic old Mountain Gandhamardhan, from where Lord Hanuman took medicine to cure Laxman during the Lankan war.

Fantastic view all around as waterfalls gushing down the hills and Lord Mahadev’s Lingam is placed over there. Since the Lord is waterlogged entire 12 months, this place is famous in the name of ‘Jal Mahadev’.

This place is not commercialised therefore it’s a totally different experience from other commercialised places attracting tourists. However, the place seeks proper amenities as scores of people travel miles and climb the mountain to reach this shrine and bow down to seek blessings from the All Might God.
