What people say about FOOD STORIES

Food stories is an authentic Kerala restaurant. I enjoyed my breakfast.
They serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian for breakfast.
The food is delicious and neatly served.
We can have a view of the kitchen. It is well maintained and chiefs’ preparations are good.
My recommendation for a Kerala food would be Food Stories, Belapur, Sector 15 Opposite to Decathlon.

A small eatery house serving kerala style food... Lots of options for veg and non veg both with unusual dishes that you wont find in my south indian restaurant in Navi Mumbai.. Kudos to the owner for sticking to the authenticity.

Strange combination of extremely good and really quite bad.

Went for lunch with family on a Saturday. It was hot, the small dining hall has one split AC, which doesn't do anything to cool the room. The kitchen is at the back, and the door between the kitchen and the dining area needs to be kept shut. Whenever any waiter opens the door to go in or out, the fumes from the kitchen blow into the dining area like a blast and make breathing hard. If any cook at that time has chosen to throw some tadka or phodni into his frying pan, then the fumes can hit hard -- I noted four to five people breaking out into bouts of coughing a few times.

The dining area has not been "done up" -- it's a bare room where some six to eight white plastic tables have been placed, with four plastic stools, not chairs, for each table. The furniture is new, so it's clear that things have just been set up. There is no real queue management, so you wait at the door, ogle at the diners, walk across whenever a few stools at a table get vacant, then go and sit, apologise to the others at the table for sharing the table, and wait to order, wait to be served.

The people in charge of running the restaurant seem to be very nice, patient, helpful, but inexperienced in running a crew. The waiters are young boys, untrained and inexperienced. I'm sure they'll get their act together in a few months.

The food is awesome. I ordered a veg thali lunch, served on a plantain leaf. Every vegetable preparation was excellent. They served the traditional ginger and jaggery chutney of Kerala. The chicken preparations were excellent too. Unlike many other Kerala restaurants, this menu does not have any buff. Crabs, clam, are present.

For now, I'll stick to Grace Restaurant in Nerul whenever I get the cravings for Kerala food; their dishes are just as good, they serve buff, and they are very well run. For a more upmarket experience, go to Kerala Café in Chembur. I'm sure Food Stories too will become much more streamlined in a few months. One warning: do not go there for lunch till the weather cools down. And of course, all the drawbacks disappear if you get takeout from here.
