The British era water Tank to feed potable water to entire Sangli town in late 19th century.The public interest things such as water works and filtration plant at Hirabag,the pumping station near Mai ghat and the water tank was the entire water supply scheme was carried out by then British Administrator Captain Berk.
The water tank is itself a marvel in steel sracture. Six pre fab columns @ 90 ft height hexagonal sracture , each column inclined @ 70 degree inclination inward forms a stracture of beauty And engineering skill. On this the main water tank @ 60 / 70 height in steel riveted stracture is very rare example of steel stracture. The entire tank is plastered by morter from in side to give water proofing and to avoid corrosion. Engineering students are given referance for the steel stacture and design .
Though now a days it is not used as storage purpose still it has been a land mark for Sangli for more than 1 and half century
With proper paintings and restoration of circular balkony it has a potential of place of tourist interest buy corporation authorities,and local government officials should think about It will prove a mini Ifel tower of Sangli

Wonderful steel structure but almost destroyed. Right expectations from corporation ( or corruption?) autorities, but seems impossible.
