Lovely place to visit. Can do cycling by paying little rent or track 7 km from the main gate to the caves. Lovely track to goin the jungle. You can be lucky to see deer moving in the jungle. There is also bus and van service from gate to caves. Cave opens at 9 am. There is entry fees for national park...Rs.75 and also at caves.. Rs. 25 as on May 22.
Great picnic spot for kids. There is also a canteen near the caves. You can also get fruits and fruit salad served by local people.
The carvings in cave are made in the wall and the caves have been made out from rocks of hills.

To reach to Kanheri caves you need to go to Sanjay Gandhi national park.
Entry fee for park is 85rs.
Bus to Kanheri caves is 10rs.
Entry to caves is 25rs.
Caves are definitely worth visiting.
Carved architecture spanned over 10centuries can be see ❤️
Closing time for entry for caves is 5pm.
Last bus comes from caves is 6:30pm.

It’s all worth.
Nice wind, nice views.. good fruits and refreshing drinks can be found at the bottom of the caves entry.

It’s a bit a hike up so people with knees or back issues might find it tough.
Overall good place to visit for a day out with family or friends.

Can’t believe I grew up in Mumbai completely oblivious to the existence of this rich and expansive piece of history. It was extremely hot when we went so we didn’t visit all the 109 caves. The ones we did cover were so beautiful, so serene. The scale, the complexity, practicality and the precision of the architecture is amazing for the time. Definitely planning to come back and cover the rest. Preferably on a cooler day.
