Good food, good ambience. I loved the salt and pepper fish. In fact all the food is good.. loved the privacy in the upper deck. We celebrated a friend's birthday so it was super fun. We brought the house down! Loved the cordial staff, their service and attitude..

Would love to keep coming back

The chicken dishes are fresh and of very good taste. Menu items are bit on the costier side considering the setup.

Beijing Shaolin is Powai’s best Desi Chinese hub and now, they’re serving more than just Chinese!
I recently visited Galleria in Powai and decided to eat dinner at Beijing’s Shaolin. Located on the first floor of Galleria the restaurant is a cosy space that immediately cuts you off from the chaos and crowds of the market outside.
The interiors are simple, the space is tidy and the service is good.
It’s the perfect setting for a family meal or for people looking for a nice quiet outing.
Although the name suggests that the restaurant serves Chinese only, Beijing Shaolin is actually a multi cuisine restaurant serving Chinese, Indian and Thai food. We decided to taste a few things from all menus and quite liked everything we ate.

Appetizers

•Thread Chicken
I never spare a chance to order thread chicken. This dish is my personal Desi Chinese favourite and Beijing’s Shaolin did not disappoint. The soft chicken fingers were dipped in a spicy sauce before being wrapped with noodle threads and fried to perfection.
I thoroughly enjoyed the softness of the meat and crispness of the coating. There was also a spicy dipping sauce that complimented the chicken well.

•Chicken Momos
The chicken Momos at Beijing Shaolin are simple and flavourful. I liked the spices and flavours of the meat stuffing but would have personally preferred a slightly thinner wrapper. The dish came with a spicy, tomato based dipping sauce and all in all made for a decent appetizer.

•Prawns Salt and Pepper
Unfortunately this dish didn’t work for me. The problem point was the meat itself. I found the meat very hard and over cooked for my liking. The prawns were first deep fried and then tossed in a butter, garlic, pepper sauce. By the time the dish reached the table, unfortunately the meat was over cooked and the the fried coating was no longer crisp but soggy. The sauce itself was flavourful and tasty.

•Fish Koliwada
We picked this appetizer from the Indian section and were quite happy with what we got. The fish was fresh and perfectly crisp. The marinade masalas were tasty and the portion was generous. Overall, a good dish.

Main Course
I always focus on starters and keep my main course light. That’s exactly what we did at Beijing’s Shaolin.

•Thai Green Fish Curry
The reason I ordered this dish was because I wanted to know what a Thai curry would taste like at a restaurant that specialises in Desi Chinese food.
I was very pleasantly surprised with what I was served. The Thai curry was fragrant, flavourful and loaded with a generous portion of fish.
The lemongrass and basil flavour really came through and we quite enjoyed our main course. I wouldn’t call the dish a 100% authentic but it was definitely delicious.

•Mocktails
Throughout our meal we sipped on some fizzy mocktails that made the evening quite interesting. I’ve never been a fan of soda based mocktails and seeing too many colours in drinks very often worries me about their taste. However, every drink we tried here just seemed to work out!
We got to try an Orange and Papaya Mocktail, a Pineapple and Kiwi Mocktail and an Apple and Blue Curacao Mocktail. Each one was spot on!
The best part? They’re so reasonably priced! You must try at least 2 variants!

My dining experience at Beijing Shaolin was an evening well spent. The food was tasty, the drinks were quirky and the service was prompt. It was nice to be in Galleria and yet be completely cut off from the noise and racket of the street. Convenience, Comfort and Choice all at one place!
