You are currently in Jai Maa Gadhkalika Mata Mandir. Located less than 4.5 kilometers away from Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Who am I to speak about the city of Mahadev.

The walls of the temples are carved with lovely curvatures of various gods and holy signs. Regular prayers and aartis are conducted in the evening hours. Staring into the glory of the immaculately sculpted idol of Goddess Kalika is a divine experience, just like attending the soul-cleansing morning and evening aarti. Navratri is the major festival celebrated here with much fervor that draws thousands of devotees.

The Gadkalika Temple is located in the city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The classical poet Kalidas Garh was a worshiper of Kalika Devi. It is believed in relation to Kalidas that ever since he started worshiping in this temple, his brilliant personality started being formed. 'Shyamala Dandak' Mahakali Stotra composed by Kalidas is a beautiful composition. It is said that this hymn first appeared from the mouth of the great poet. Mother Kalika is worshiped here every year before the Kalidas ceremony.

Beliefs :-
Every day thousands of devotees gather in the temple of Garh Kalika to have darshan of Maa Kalika. No one knows about the antiquity of this wondrous temple of Kalika, the goddess of tantrikas, yet it is believed to have been established during the Mahabharata period, but the idol belongs to the Satyuga period. Later, there is mention of restoration of this ancient temple by Emperor Harshvardhan. It was rebuilt by the Maharaja of Gwalior during the State period.

Shaktipeeth :-
Although the temple of Garh Kalika is not included in Shaktipeeth, but due to Maa Harsiddhi Shaktipeeth being in Ujjain area, the importance of this area increases. It is mentioned in the Puranas that the lips of Maa Bhagwati Sati fell on the Bhairav u200bu200bmountain near the banks of Shipra river in Ujjain.

Very peaceful and divine place. Clean and Calm temple. Very Sacred and popular hindu temple of ujjain.

-This temple is popularly called as Ujjain Mahakali

-This temple is one of the eighteen Shakti peethas where the upper lip of goddess sati fell here.

-This temple is located near the village of Gad, hence this temple is famous with the name Gadkalika Mandir.

I visited on normal day so the place was not so crowded.

The temple is located at 5 km from Ujjain mahakaleshwar temple, Gadhkalika is a sacred Hindu temple located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Situated near Bhartrihari Caves, it is one of the must include places in Ujjain Darshan, and among the famous places to visit in Ujjain. There are several strong stories about the place which is very fascinating.
