Narmada is a divine and mysterious river in the whole world, its glory has been described in the explanation of the four Vedas by Vedvyas, an incarnation of Shri Vishnu, in the Revakhand of Skanda Purana. The manifestation of this river itself, by Lord Shiva on the Maikal mountain of Amarkantak (District Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh on the Jabalpur-Vilaspur rail line-Orissa border of Madhya Pradesh) for atonement for the demon-slaying done by Vishnu in his incarnations, by Lord Shankar. Performed as Divine Girl of the Year. Due to being Maharupavati, the gods like Vishnu named this girl as Narmada. This divine girl Narmada did penance for 10,000 divine years in the Panchkroshi region of Kashi on the banks of Uttar Vahini Ganga and obtained the following boons from Lord Shiva which are not available to any other river and pilgrimage:'

May I not perish even in the holocaust. I should be famous as the only sin-killer in the world, this period is now over. Every stone of mine (Narmadeshwar) should be worshiped in the form of Shivling without any respect for life. Narmadeshwar Shivling of this divine river is sitting in every Shiva-temple in the world. Many people, who do not know this secret, install Shivling made of other stones. Such Shivling can also be installed, but their consecration is essential. While Shri Narmadeshwar Shivling is worshiped without life. May all the deities including Shiva-Parvati reside on the banks of my (Narmada).

Peacefulness , serenity , faith , religiousness you could witness here. This place will ease your pain . This place holds some aura to make you feel energized when you visit in morning . There are beggars and people who do not follow the clean Narmada mission that's only issues . Some alcoholic and unwanted elements could have encounter with you there; otherwise very best place in town .
