One of the best places to visit in Bhopal, this is situated on the same road as Van Vihar, very easily accessible. Boating is available, around 200-500 depending on the type of boat you take, there are two boats, motor boats and the pedel boats too. It's extremely peaceful to go boating, they've tried their best to maintain it as cleanly as possible. Sunset views are beautiful in this place to see it go down the horizon the way it does. Overall, this was definitely one of my favourite places in Bhopal, absolutely loved everything about it.

One of the most peaceful and famous places in Bhopal, the Upper Lake, locally referred to as ‘Bhojtaal’ or ‘Bada Talab’, is the oldest man-made lake in India. Dating back to the 11th century, the lake is believed to have been built by Raja Bhoj.

The lake is overlooked by a grand royal garden called Kamla Park, which is another tourist magnet, tempting tourists into its serene folds every year. The ambience and setting of the two places are too remarkable to be ignored, and warrants a top spot in your Bhopal tour itinerary, without any doubt.

Beautiful place to visit, one of ramsar sites, their is cruise ship ,boating ,best time to visit is evening, near cm houseBhojtal, formerly known as Upper Lake,is a large lake which lies on the western side of the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, India. It is a major source of drinking water for the residents of the city, serving around 40% of the residents with nearly 30 million imperial gallons (140,000 m3) of water per day.Bada talaab, along with the nearby Chhota Talaab, meaning small lake in Hindi, constitute Bhoj Wetland, which is now a Ramsar site.
Considered to be the oldest man-made lakes in the state, Upper Lake is also one of the main sources of water for irrigation and drinkable water for the residents of Bhopal. It is separated from the Lower Lake (Chhota Talab), which is another artificial lake, by a bridge called Pul Pukhta or Lower Lake Bridge. Constructed across the Kolans River, the Upper Lake in Bhopal is famous for its scenic locale, shimmering water and the fantastic views of the sunrise and sunset from here.

Another attraction of the lake that draws huge crowds on a regular basis is the different water sports facilities on offer here by the National Sailing School. These include rafting, kayaking, parasailing, canoeing and water skiing. Besides these adventure water sports, tourists can enjoy paddle boating, boat cruise and motorboat rides on the lake. All these facilities along with food joints, aquarium, boat club and scenic walkway along the lake, make it a popular tourist hotspot.
